TBC Introduction to Buddhism Series (Ongoing)
From time to time when Ven. Losang is away, and also at designated times in the Spring and Fall, we offer introductory classes led by TBC senior teachers. Recent series have provided an overview of the three great paths or "Yanas" of Buddhism, as well as a closer focus on topics of interest to ordinary practitioners and meditation students.
How do we give meaning to our struggle with developing a regular meditation schedule, with turbulent thoughts and emotions, with trying daily to take refuge and to make these teachings meaningful in our lives? What does it mean to take refuge in the three jewels? What are Buddhist ethics? What is karma, and how does it work? These classes are suitable for all levels. They do not require a previous involvement or familiarity with Buddhism, nor do they require having participated in our earlier offerings.
In general, classes focus on interactivity, with opportunity for participants to share their questions and their experiences. The teachers may also recommend readings in preparation for a topic, with links to the materials posted here on our TBC website.
For up-to-date information about upcoming offerings, please check the listings on our calendar and our regular newsletter. Thank you!
