PRAYERS FOR PEACE
Attention peace-loving Philadelphians! Join us on September 21 from 2:00-8:00 pm to send forth prayers for peace in honor of the U.N. International Day of Peace. As part of Peace Day Philly, The Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center of Philadelphia invites you to join us by giving and receiving blessings that create the conditions for peace for our beloved City and the world.
Prayers for Peace is divided into one-hour segments each dedicated to a state of mind that supports key aspects of a peaceful and inclusive community: safety, overcoming obstacles, compassion, wish-fulfillment, healing and purification. The prayers will be recited through Buddhist mantras. Dedications may be requested for specific people or causes that promote peace and will be named during the prayer segment. All are welcome to join any or all of the entire six-hour program.
We will segment the six hours as follows:
2p-3p Buddha’s mantra - to create safety and overcome fear
3p-4p Padmasambhava - remove obstacles and create a field of protection
4p-5p Chenrezig - peace through compassion
5p-6p Tara - wish fulfilling
6p-7p Medicine Buddha - healing
7p-8p Vajrasattva - purification
Handouts will be available for each mantra to learn more and to follow along as needed. Cushions and chairs will be provided along with tea and coffee. If you have your own cushion, feel free to bring.
Before each mantra begins, participants/observers will have the opportunity to announce dedications for the hour. If you are unable to attend and would like us to dedicate a mantra on your behalf, please use the following form to submit your dedication: MANTRA DEDICATION.
