Equanimity, The Foundation of Bodhicitta Equanimity is one of The Four Immeasurable Thoughts--a divine virtue that generates deep awareness of equality toward all beings.  Equanimity is the foundation upon which the mind of enlightenment, bodhicitta, is able to develop within us.  Lama Yeshe says, "We cannot create beautiful bodhicitta within our mind until the distortions of seeing others in distinctions of friend, enemy or stranger are eliminated."
