Senior Teacher, Bill Stauffer, will lead this special two-part course designed to provide an overview of fundamental teachings in Buddhism.  Bill will cover a brief history of Shakyamuni Buddha and what lead him to leave a life of power and wealth (he was a prince) in order to search for something more meaningful.  We will discuss in detail the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path with a special emphasis on understanding attachments and aversions and how they cause suffering.  The group will discuss how we can develop our own daily practice.

There are many things we can know in the world, but, as the Buddha tells us in the Simsapa Sutta (SN 56.31), it is most important to know the few basic things which are fundamental to the holy life and which lead to tranquility, direct knowledge, and awakening. How well do you know the basics?

Registration is required for both sessions (March 18 and 25).

The registration confirmation will provide the Zoom link and passcode.  Suggested donation is $15.00 for CTBC Members and students, $20 for non-members.
